Secondhand Hounds Hosts Supply Drive for Pets Impacted by Kentucky Floods

Minnetonka, August 2nd, 2022 – At Secondhand Hounds, we want to help all animals. Even the ones that aren’t located in our state because we believe that change is made when we work together. SHH partners frequently with shelters in Kentucky to rescue animals and bring them to SHH in Minnesota. This helps to make room for more animals in KY’s overpopulated shelters.

Right now, Kentucky is experiencing historic flooding that has caused an indescribable amount of loss. We want to do our part to help the animals and families in need in KY. SHH is driving to Kentucky this weekend for our routine monthly intake. Instead of driving an empty van down to pick up the rescue animals, we want to drive down a van full of supplies that our animal shelter partners can distribute to the counties and shelters affected by the flooding.

The public can help pets impacted by the flooding in KY by donating animal supplies they so desperately need. Donations can be dropped off at Secondhand Hounds in Minnetonka by the end of the day this Thursday, August 4th. Items needed include wet and dry dog food, puppy food, leashes, collars, dog toys, crates, puppy pads, dog and cat treats, bottled water, and cleaning supplies. A lot of KY county animal shelters are currently running on very few supplies as most of their supplies were ruined or lost during the floods.
