From the Foster:

Senior dogs are often overlooked due to their age but anytime I foster one, I am reminded of how amazing they are! Skylar is no exception.  She is an older gal with a goofy personality. Her age comes with experience and she is house trained and cat and kid friendly.  When we leave, we give her free reign and always come home to her deep in sleep on her favorite pillow. She sleeps in until around 7-8AM on a pillow near our bed and is sleeping each night before us. While she loves her walks around the neighborhood, she isn't high energy so life with Skylar is slow paced and she always reminds you to take time to stop and smell the leaves... I mean flowers! Skylar is on pain meds which help keep her moving, however, stairs can be a challenge. Along with the pain meds, she takes daily fish oil and a medication to keep her from itching due to mild environmental allergies. She spends most of her day snoozin' at our feet while we work and enjoys a kong full of peanut butter in the evenings. While Skylar is dog friendly with slow introduction,  on leash, she can come on too strong to other dogs by getting in their faces. We avoid any leash meetings and she does fine with slow introductions off leash. After arriving, Skylar had a lump removed from her side that was cancerous. Fortunately, they were able to remove it all and she is Cancer free! The type of Cancer she had is very rare to return. She loves her people and follows us room to room as she scouts out which pillow will make for the coziest nap space next. She eats hard food that we soften with warm water and takes her pills no problem with her meals. Skylar LOVES her treats so we always make sure to have plenty on hand. She is the sweetest gal that is perfect for anyone looking for a mellow sidekick.
