Certified Veterinary Technician


Secondhand Hounds Veterinary Center is hiring! Now is an especially exciting time to join our incredible team, as we continue to shift away from providing care only to foster animals into a model that allows us to provide care for both foster animals and owned animals. You’ll have the chance to see and help treat a wide range of conditions in animals, as well as be involved in both appointments and surgeries, working with our four amazing and experienced veterinarians! Qualified certified techs eligible for signing bonus! Full-time technicians also eligible for monthly healthcare stipend! Job Title: Certified Veterinary Technician Reporting to: Veterinary Center Operations Director Hours per week: Full or Part Time options available! Position Type: Paid Position Responsibilities: The Veterinary Technician is responsible for ensuring support to vet center veterinarians, including support for appointments, procedures, surgeries and other vet center needs

  1. Assist and support veterinarians: field basic client questions and discuss general health recommendations with clients, including at-home care details, provide support through patient appointments, surgery preparation, and end of day write up
  2. Diagnostics: perform blood draws, urine analysis, ear smear/cytology, X-rays, dental rads, Idexx
  3. Provide treatments: vaccinations, injections, IV catheters, dental cleanings, and assist in surgery, including administering and monitoring anesthesia
Qualifications:
  • Veterinary Technician Certification or Licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT) preferred
  • 1-2 years of technician experience at an animal clinic preferred
  • Ability to read, understand and follow department and facility procedures and policies
  • Experience handling dogs and cats during medical exams and procedures
  • Experience communicating individually and in a team environment
  • Experience working with computer applications
  • Ability to lift 40-50 pounds daily
  • Age 18 years and older
Job Type: Full-time, Part-time Pay: $19.00 – $22.00 per hour depending on qualifications Benefits:

Puppy Party Assistant


The Puppy Party Assistant is responsible for aiding the Puppy Party Coordinator to ensure our puppy party program runs smoothly and effectively. Job Title: Puppy Party Assistant Reporting to: Puppy Party Coordinator Hours per week: Varies week to week, usually ~5 Position Type: Unpaid Responsibilities:

  • Help to secure puppies for events, both by following up on PPCs initial emails or by soliciting puppies from various fosters. This includes direct emailing as well as making requests on Facebook.
  • Make sure all volunteer roles are filled and confirm that all party transportation duties are fulfilled, both through following up on sign ups and reaching out on Facebook for additional help.
  • Organize and create spreadsheets to make the process more smooth.
  • Check emails multiple times a day as needed.
  • Backup when PPC is unavailable. In addition to the above duties, this would include correspondence with party hosts and responding to party requests.
Required Qualifications:
  • Facebook savvy
  • Understand Google Docs
  • Age 18 years and older
  • Must be a lover of puppies!




Recurring Donations Coordinator


Reporting to: Donor Communications Manager Hours per week: 3-5 Position Type: Unpaid Responsibilities: The Recurring Donations Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the employee match donations and monthly donors at Secondhand Hounds.

  • Acknowledge and confirm payroll deduction and employee match contribution donations through employee match portals
  • Send end of year receipts and work with the Development Communications Coordinator to acknowledge donors
  • Acknowledge new payroll contributors when they start
  • Assist the Development Administrator with entering match donations into Secondhand Hounds donor platform
  • Pull donation reports and reconcile matches via employee match portals
  • Manage and oversee the Secondhand Heroes monthly donation program
Required Qualifications:
  • Must be proficient in Excel, Word, Google Drive
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Age 18 years and older
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Administrative experience preferred




Vet Center Practice Manager


Reporting to: Operations Director Hours per week: 40 Position Type: Paid/Non-Exempt Shifts: Monday - Friday (some Saturdays may be required) Position Responsibilities:

  1. Manages employee and clinic scheduling through our clinic software
  2. Oversee inventory and equipment management
  3. Employee Management: a. Recruiting and Onboarding
    b. Performance Discipline
  4. Provides back-up and support staff coverage when need
Desired Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience working in a clinic setting
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1-2+ of effective leadership experience with; superior judgment and disciplined
  • decision-making approach, analytical, problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong communication skills both in written and oral format
  • Self-starter and highly motivated
  • Customer service
  • provide consistent and timely communication with fosters, adopters and
  • veterinary partners especially in escalated and highly emotional situations
  • Proficient computer and technology skills: Clinic Software, Gmail, Google Docs, etc.
  • Great organizational skills and time management skills
  • Age 18 years and older




Donor System Coordinator


Reporting to: Donor Communications Manager Hours per week: 3-5 Position Type: Unpaid Responsibilities: The Donor System Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the donor system for the Development Team, currently Raiser’s Edge (RE), at Secondhand Hounds.

  1. Expert on RE and the ability to troubleshoot as needed
  2. Ability to run reports for Donor Communications Manager as needed
  3. Work closely with Database Administrator on Finance Team to ensure timely communication for our donors
  4. Create and update multiple templates in RE on a quarterly basis
  5. Work with Marketing Team to create impactful stories we can share with our donors
Required Qualifications:
  • Communication expert with an ability to work with multiple departments
  • Must be proficient in Excel, Word, Google Drive
  • Marketing mindset
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Age 18 years and older
Preferred Qualifications:
  • RE experience preferred
  • Administrative experience preferred




Tribute Communications Coordinator


Reporting to: Donor Communications Manager Hours per week: 3-5 Position Type: Unpaid Responsibilities: The Tribute Communications Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and sending the tributes associated with eligible donations to Secondhand Hounds.

  1. Send tributes to donors who give in honor or memory of someone within 1 week of donation
  2. Use Canva to create and update tribute templates
  3. Work with Office Manager to mail physical tributes
Required Qualifications:
  • Must be proficient in Excel, Word, Google Drive
  • Ability to use Canva to create custom tributes and certificates
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Age 18 years and older
